Free SaaS homepage checklist

Check the first screen before rewriting the headline.

A polished headline cannot rescue a mismatched next step. Use these eight checks on your public SaaS homepage and follow the primary button without creating an account or submitting a form. Mark only what you can verify. This is a self-review guide, not a performance score or customer audit.

Eight first-screen checks

  1. Category: Can a new visitor name what the software is? If not, add a plain category such as scheduling software or approval workspace.
  2. Audience: Is the intended team or role visible, without forcing visitors to infer it from an abstract benefit?
  3. Job: Does the headline or supporting line describe one concrete task the product helps with?
  4. First useful result: Can the visitor tell what they would see or do first, rather than only hearing a broad outcome promise?
  5. Claim check: Are integrations, automation, speed, savings, and customer proof supported by the actual product and evidence?
  6. CTA label: Does the button name the real next action: try, view a tour, request a demo, or contact sales?
  7. Destination: After clicking, does the first destination match that label? A sales form is not a self-serve trial; a screenshot is not a live demo.
  8. Terms and friction: Are account, card, trial-length, and demo-booking requirements clear before a visitor commits?

Example: repair the button promise first

A fictional tool says “Start free,” but the button opens a sales-contact form. If the product has no self-serve trial, an honest first change is “Request a demo,” with a supporting line explaining what the demo covers. Do not claim a free start unless the next step truly provides it.

For complete fictional headline, supporting-line, and CTA patterns, see the three SaaS first-screen examples. Verify every detail against your own offer.

Use the free local-only generator to draft three headline directions, a supporting line, and a CTA. Check all generated claims and the actual button destination before publishing.

For one outside observation, ask for a free finding below or request it in a public GitHub issue. Share a public URL and intended visitor action, not credentials or customer data. The review is AI-assisted and there is no purchase obligation.

For a site-specific diagnosis and paste-ready headline, supporting line, and CTA, the separate First Screen Fix sample shows the format. The $29 AI-assisted rewrite is delivered before payment; pay only if useful, otherwise owe nothing.
